LETTER FROM Hannah

Hannah

Dear host family,

It’s such an exciting feeling to write to somebody who I don’t know, but I am so excited to meet you next year and stay with you five months.

Since I was 13 I was dreaming about an exchange in the USA. Now I’m 15 years old (turn 16 in two months) and I’m still dreaming, but now I know soon my dream will be come true.

I’m Hannah and I’m 15 years old. I live with my parents, my little brother Tom and my dachshund Hermine in a house in a small village, which is about five minutes with the car apart from the next town. Here I go to school. Every school day starts at quarter to eight and ends at one pm. My favorite subject is physical education. Every second week on Monday I go to afternoon lesson. In my lessons our teacher learn us how to prepare ourselves to go surfing next May. Next year we are going to the coast of south France and learn it right in the sea. So if everything goes well, I can surf next summer.

I also like to meet my friends in my town. Here we go to a restaurant, just hang out in the park or take the next train to Frankfurt. Frankfurt is one of the biggest cities in Germany and here you can do a lot of different things and always have a lot fun. Often my friends and I go here to shop. I think shopping is our favorite activity. 😉

With my brother I spend a lot of time. We have a normally sibling relationship. We can fight against each other but sometimes we like each other a lot. Often I spend time with my family. We make trips together, go by bike to the next ice cream shop or watch a movie together in the cinema. We love to travel around the world. I love travel and I would love to visit every country in the world.
Every Monday my grandparents visit us and we have a great day, eat cake, drink coffee and talk about everything. The other part of my family lives in Berlin it’s a five hours ride with the car from my home. But every year we went to them or they went to us and we have a wonderful time.

I‘m an open minded person, who wants to have fun. I am very curious and adventurous. That’s why I am doing an exchange semester. I want to experience the US spirit in school, know how it is to live in an American family, to meet the culture and so on. But also I want to show you a little bit of my culture and of course of myself.

In my free time I play handball in a club. We have training twice a week and a game at the weekend. I love to play with my team and achieve our goals together. I am very ambitious and give always my best. Also I spend a lot of time with my friends. We do a lot of funny things together. For example we go to the lake or into the swimming pool in summer. We go camping, go shopping, visit new cities or travel together. This year my best friend and I made a trip to Croatia. We went camping there and it was a lot of fun. We went canoeing on the sea, explored the coast by bike, visited new cities and made new friends.

Finally I would like to give you some random facts about me. I’m a very spontaneous person and love to try out new adventures.
I love listening to music everywhere.
I don’t have a special favorite food. But I like salad with chicken, vegetables and a good dressing.
I would like to study after school and work meantime as an air stewardess.

Now you know a little bit more about me.
Thank you very much for taking time to read my letter and accepting me as a new part of your family. I am really nervous to meet you and hope to hear from you soon!

Best regards,

Hannah
