Dear future Host Family, 

My name is Ida, I am currently 16 years old and I would love to join your family for my exchange. I am very grateful for the opportunity to spend a semester abroad and I am so thankful, that I can spend the time with you!

I live in Germany with my mother, my father, my older sister Anna, my older brother Hannes and with our dog Maya. I have a pretty big family with four aunts, three uncles and lots of cousins as well as my two grandfathers and my two grandmothers. Spending time together as a family is very important to us. 

We always try to spend some time together every day, which is not always easy to manage because we all have a lot to do during the day. During the weekends we like to do fun activities together such as bowling in the evening or simply cooking together. 

It is also really important to us that we help each other with everything. That’s why we try to split the chores between all our family members in order to be able to spend more time together. 

My favorite animals are dogs but actually I love every animal. 

I am currently visiting the 11th grade and I personally like going to school. My favourite subject is English, but I also like Spanish a lot. I enjoy learning new languages, and I personally think I am also pretty good at it. 

When I finish school, I definitely want to go to university. At the moment I am not sure what I want to study, but I am really interested in medicine, because I think it’s very interesting and I really enjoy helping people. 

In my free time, I like to spend time with my family and my friends. I like going to the beach with my friends or doing any fun activity. I also enjoy doing sports in my free time being active in general because it makes me feel very good. My most time-consuming hobby is probably gymnastics. I have practice three times a week for two hours each. Gymnastics gives me a good balance from school and helps me to calm down. I started gymnastics when I was very young together with my sister and moved to a new team two years ago, where I quickly became friends with my teammates. Apart from that I love going to the gym, swimming and also skiing.

I went on my first ski trip with my school in January last year and it was a lot of fun. I love all kinds of sports and I wish I could do every sport! That’s one of the reasons why I want to do an exchange year. And of course I want to improve my English language. I also love travelling. I’ve already been to several countries in Europe, such as Italy or Croatia but also Denmark, Austria and England but my dream has always been to visit the USA. Ever since I watched the first American movies, I knew that I wanted to visit the United States. 

I cannot wait to meet new people, to try out new hobbies and experience the whole American lifestyle. I am also really interested in the culture, the High School, the daily life and the new food and if you want to, we could cook something German together as well.
