LETTER FROM Ines

Ines

Dear future family,

I’m very excited about the opportunity you are giving me. I really want to live one year in USA, go to a High School and see what it is like and see how life is there.

This exchange program is a unique opportunity to learn about your culture, your country, your people and your lifestyle. I found it exciting.

I would like to share a bit about myself. My name is Ines and I’m 14 years old. I consider myself a very happy, sociable, and smiling girl. I like to travel and know new places, new people and their traditions. The US is one of the best places to get this experience as it’s such a big and diverse country. I am an open girl, flexible and with curiosity for things.

I live in the center of Madrid, the capital of Spain, in a very big building where we share gym, swimming pool, football area, park, tennis court, etc. My school is really near home, so I go walking every day. I live with my parents and my sister Blanca, but now she is studing in Indiana with an exchange program. We both get along well and we both like social media, go shopping and dancing on Tik tok. I’m very lucky to have a sister almost like me. We like to talk about our favorite topics, and we can go together to concerts or some other events. I also like going out with my parents, travelling or just for a walk. They are very active people and like to go and visit different cities. I love it when we go in summer to the beach. We have lot of fun there, with water sports, or just going for a walk on the shore.

Sometimes we go trekking for 2-3 hours through awesome places in the mountain. They like it a lot, and I can take amazing photos there. I also love plea markets, where I can buy clothes, bags or accessories at good prices.

In the future I still don’t know what I will be. Maybe I could study marketing or business but I think that is too soon to know it.

I love hanging out with friends. I´m very friendly to my friends. One thing I also like is listening to music, all kind of music, but mainly pop one. Although I don’t have pets at home, I love them but unfortunately I’m allergic so I can’t have one, but I love children and babies, playing with them and having fun.

My favorite sport is volleyball. I play volley in my school since last year but I play bad. After School I train volley two days a week and on Sunday we play matches with other teams, Once a week, I have 3 hours of PE at school. At school, I enjoy subjects like Spanish Language and music.

I think this program will let me learn about American students: what they study, how they teach and how they behave. And will also let me know new places. Obviously also the language will be one of the most important things to get used to. On the other hand, I will be able to teach you about our habits, our culture, our meals, our sports and teams, our beautiful cities… I’ll also try to teach you how to cook a Spanish omelet. I’d like the family to learn things that they are interested from my country.

I am a very enthusiastic girl, and I will try to cheer up my family, with music, with dances or just with small jokes. As I do in Spain, once I get familiar with someone, I like to enjoy everyday with whatever is around.

I’m convinced that this experience will make me grow. Hope we can meet soon and enjoy together!

Thank you so much for this opportunity.

Best,

Inés.
