Dear guest family,

first I’d like to thank you for reading this letter! My name is Jim, I am from Germany and I am currently 16 years old. I attend the 10th grade and I live together in a house with my parents and my brother.

In the afternoons, I like spending time with my friends. We often meet at one of our homes, go to the city together or do sports (we go to the gym or play tennis). Sometimes I play with my brother. I also like cooking for my family or with my friends. Of course I also like traveling and spending holidays with my family. I have been to France and some other countries in Europe.

The idea of an exchange year was born in 2019 when we visited the USA. My dad was working there for several months and my mother, my brother and I visited him. We saw San Francisco and some other places and the Yosemite National Park. I was fascinated by the culture, the country in general and how nice the people were. Sadly, my English was very bad at the time so I couldn’t understand much.

However, since my first trip there, I couldn’t wait to come back. I want to go to the USA because I love the idea of getting to know new people and experiencing the culture as more than just a tourist. Thank you very much again for giving me the opportunity to fulfill this dream of mine!
