LETTER FROM Jonathan

Jonathan

Dear Host Family,

My name is Jonathan and I am 16 years old. I live in Germany together with my parents and my younger brother, who is twelve years old. I am very close to my family, and I also spend a lot of time with my extended family, such as my aunts, uncle and cousins who live nearby. Together with my parents and my brother, I enjoy doing outdoor activities such as cycling tours, hiking, or sometimes playing tennis with my father. Family is very important to me, and I like the feeling of being connected with the people around me.

My friends and family would describe me as polite, disciplined and caring. I like to greet people and show appreciation, and I also try to help whenever I see that someone close to me is not doing well. I am very open to new experiences, whether it is trying new activities, exploring different places, or tasting new food. I am also quite independent, as I can manage things on my own and take responsibility for myself when needed. At the same time, I am an active and sporty person who enjoys discovering new things and staying engaged. I also consider myself optimistic, because I usually try to look at the positive side of situations and believe that things will work out.

Sports and hobbies play a big role in my daily life. I play tennis twice a week in a club, and once a week I do water sports such as kayaking or dragon boating. In the winter, we train in the gym for fun. I also enjoy jogging, often with a friend. In summer, I like going to the lake with my friends and our stand-up paddle boards, or spending time together at a private place where we sometimes help my uncle with gardening. I often spend the night at friends’ houses, and I enjoy being social and active. Another interest of mine is cooking – I sometimes help in my father’s restaurant kitchen, and I really like preparing food. My favorite meals are pizza and steak, but I am always happy to try new dishes.

I would like to spend a high school semester in the United States because I have never been there before, and I am curious to get to know the culture and the people. I hope to improve my English, build new friendships, and learn more about everyday life in a different country. I also see this exchange as a chance to grow as a person, become more independent, and take responsibility for myself. I do not have any special preferences about the type of family I will live with, because I believe that every family is unique and I am excited to learn from their way of life.

Thank you very much for considering me as part of your family. I am really looking forward to meeting you and sharing my own culture and experiences with you.

Best regards,

Jonathan
