LETTER FROM Julia

Julia

Dear future host family,

First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to read this letter. My name is Julia, and I’m French. This letter is a little recap of who I am, what I love, and my everyday environment. I hope you’ll love it, and maybe choose me as your exchange student ? I hope you enjoy getting to know about me in this letter.

My family is composed of four members, (actually five with my pet) : my parents, my sister and me, and last my cat. My mother is called Anne Gaëlle and she’s 44, my father is 45 and he’s called Emmanuel, my sister, her name is Laura, and finally my cat is called Pirouette. My dad is a really calm and peaceful person. He knows how to use words to solve problems. But he’s also very funny. About my mother, I see her as a really smart person. I’ve always been impressed, because she always has the answer to my questions. She’s really comforting, and a good listener. My sister has always been a role model for me, because she knows what she wants and will do anything to reach it. She’s always taken care of me. Laura has my father’s sense of humor ! She’s a really enthusiastic person. I love my family because they always motivate me to do my best, and always listen to me when I really want to do something, like this exchange year ! Also, because it’s not rare to hear someone laughing in my house.

I’ve always been curious, since I was little. That’s one of the reasons I decided to do an exchange year abroad. I’ve always loved to discover new people, new countries, and new ways of living. I’m independent and I’m used to going to summer camps where I traveled and learned to manage on my own, and adapted to living with people that I didn’t know. My friends say that when I do something, I do it thoroughly ! I’m a hard worker and very studious. I’m rather calm, serene. I’ve always loved English, and becoming bilingual thanks to this year will be a good skill forever, in all the aspects of my life. But because I want to do everything so thoroughly, I can sometimes overload myself with work. I tend to be a perfectionist sometimes, and a little stubborn. I’ve always had a lot of dreams, occasionally I’ve got my head in the clouds. I’ve had this plan for a gap year since I was 10 years old. Now, I still want to do this project just as badly : it’s one of my biggest dreams.

When I was younger, my family had a tradition with my grandparents and my cousins : every summer, we spent two weeks at my grandparents’ house. I’ve got a lot of good memories from those vacations, we always learned many things, and had fun doing it. I’ve always loved to learn and discover. I love cooking ! When I was younger, I used to spend whole afternoons cooking. I enjoy playing board games with my family. I’m a big reader, and I love watching series or movies. I’m not a very athletic person, but when I go running, it makes me feel good. My food tastes are quite easy, because I love nearly everything, except for strong cheeses. I’m a big fan of fruits like mandarin oranges or strawberries, and also ice cream.

To conclude this letter, I would say how grateful I am to my future host family. As I’ve said before, it’s one of my biggest dreams, and I know how enriching this kind of experience will be. I hope you enjoyed reading my letter, thank you for reading about me.

Kind regards,

Julia
