LETTER FROM Julia

Julia

My name is Julia, but everyone calls me Juju! I’m 16 years old, and I live in a small town, in the countryside of Brazil. I’m writing this letter with a heart full of excitement and gratitude, knowing that this exchange will be an incredible adventure in my life.

I come from a very loving and close-knit family. I’m the oldest of three sisters—Mariana is 12 and Anne is 10—and we are very close. We laugh a lot, share everything, and support each other every day. My parents work outside the home and also run a small food business. Our routine during the week is busy, but on weekends we always find time to be together—cooking, having lunch as a family, and just enjoying each other’s company.

I consider myself a cheerful, friendly, and open person. I love meeting new people, listening to their stories, and learning from different experiences. At school, I have friends from different grades and backgrounds. I’m sociable, and I try to make everyone feel welcome. I’m also organized and responsible with my studies, and I manage my schedule on my own, including schoolwork and extracurricular activities.

In my free time, I enjoy playing sports—I practice volleyball, handball, beach tennis, and I also go horseback riding, which I absolutely love. I recently started going to the gym and I try to live a healthy lifestyle. I actually enjoy eating vegetables and fruits (sometimes more than my own parents!). I love music, watching movies, trying new recipes, and spending time outdoors. I’m always open to learning something new.

One of the things I value most is honesty and clear communication. I believe that respect, kindness, and empathy are the foundations of good relationships, whether in family, school, or in new environments like this one. I know that living in another country will come with challenges, but I feel ready. I have a strong foundation at home and the desire to grow, adapt, and contribute to the family who welcomes me.

I’m very grateful for this opportunity and for the generosity of families like yours, who open their homes and hearts to students from around the world. I hope to share my culture, my language, and my way of seeing life with you—and to learn just as much from you in return. I’m truly excited to become part of your family and your daily life.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I’m looking forward to meeting you soon!

With love and gratitude, Julia.
