LETTER FROM Kanwara

Kanwara

Dear Host Family,

First of all, I would like to say Thank you so much for taking time reading my letter. My name is Kanwara, but you can call me Yai Mai. I am currently 16 years old, born in Bangkok, Thailand and living there as well. I follow the Buddhist religion. My family consists of three members, my father, my mother, and myself. My father is 47 years old and runs his own business. My mother is 46 years old and works as a university lecturer.

My parents take good care of me and always support me in pursuing what I want to do. I am the only daughter in the family, and we also have a Beagle dog named Lucky, whom I have been raising for 7 years. Lucky is a very intelligent, playful, and adorable member of our family. I love Lucky dearly and consider him a part of our family.

I have chosen to study mass communication and enjoy every day at school because of the caring teachers and wonderful friends I have made. I participate in various school activities, both within my current school and in my previous school. I love joining activities that sometimes require traveling to distant provinces, and despite the long journeys like 10 hours, I find joy and learning opportunities in them.

At home, my family likes to travel to different provinces in Thailand and abroad since I was a child. I am a big fan of Disney cartoons since I was 3 years old and have been to various Disneyland locations, including the one in Hong Kong last year. My family has traveled to many European countries like France, Netherlands, and Belgium, as well as several Asian countries, including Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Macau, and Laos. My father always said that traveling is all about creating experiences for me. Not to go on a trip just for fun. But you must know and learn the culture of each country you go with.

In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, singing, and, on cooler days, I enter the kitchen to explore baking through YouTube. I have a passion for making desserts, especially brownies and banana cake. I also love cooking Thai foods, such as spicy salads and tom yum soup. I find happiness when people enjoy the food and desserts I prepare. I hope I will have opportunity to cooking Thai foods for you.

My hobbies include singing, dancing, and modeling. I have had the opportunity to learn acting from well-known actors in Thailand. My dream is to become an actress. I love seeing people smile when they see me perform, sing, or dance. I am a social person who enjoys chatting, excitement, and entertainment. I often organize parties for my friends at home during special occasions, like Halloween, Christmas, birthdays, and New Year’s Eve.

When I was a child, I used to be a swimmer and won awards. I swam every day and found it made me strong and healthy. Although I don’t swim much now, I engage in sports like basketball and badminton that complement my studies. Additionally, I used to play ice skate but was not very good at it as I fell frequently.

I have a dream of visiting the United States. My father goes there often, and he always brings back toys for me. My mother also went to the United States to study. I want to go there to study, experience the vastness, learn about the culture, and improve my English skills. I am ready to adapt to everything I will encounter, even though I have never been to the United States. My parents have shared their experiences, and they encourage me to learn about the culture and language there. I am excited to explore new things and believe there will be many new opportunities for me.

I hope my story aligns with your interests or needs. I would be delighted to become a part of your family and I hope to be a member of your family soon.

Best regards,

Yai Mai
