Dear Host Family

First of all, I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to become a part of your family and for your kindness in opening your home to me. My name is Kittiphon. My nickname is Mak. Now I’m 15 years old. I was born in Bangkok, a capital city of Thailand. My religion is Buddhism. My family has 4 members. There are my mom, dad, younger sister, and me. My parents work as accountants. My father’s name is Methawat, he is 43 years old. He takes care of me and my sister very well. My mother’s name is Suchada, she is 43 years old. She is a friendly and kind person. She always makes me smile. And my younger sister’s name is Wannaphas. She is 12 years old. She is younger than me for 3 years. She is a good person. We are close siblings. At my house there are 2 dogs, Chihuahua breed, they are very cute and I really love them. I am the oldest child of the family. Now I’m studying in Grade 9.

On holidays, my family does not travel much but my parents take their company employees on trips to other provinces 1-2 times a year. So, I have opportunities to go with them. On every Saturday I go to music class with my sister. My family have meals together at home and sometimes we eat at restaurant on special occasion.

At my school, there are student about 2000 people, my classmates are good and friendly. They help me go through and teach me in academic when I do not understand things. And I often hang out with them. My teachers are very kind. I like my teacher so much and I also like to join school activities, got a chance to know a lot of friends.

In my free time, I like to listen to music because I love music. I can play drum-set and I just started practicing playing guitar. Another activity watching movies. I like to go see movies at the cinema. Sometimes I went to see a movie with a friend. My friends always ask me to hang out at the mall with them. They are good friends, I feel so lucky to have them as friends.

My personalities, I am an outgoing person and like to make people around me happy. I am a positive person. I like talking with children and I am a person who really likes playing with pets. I am a talkative person.

I am interested in English languages and other cultures since I was in Grade 7. My favorite subject is English and I love studying grammar. I have been to Singapore when I was a kid, I do not remember that much but I like it. I studied English in India for 2 months. It was my first time l used English to communicate. My English has improved a lot.

About food, I can eat any type of food from different cultures. My favorite food is Thai food, it is stir-fried minced pork and basil rice.

The reasons I want to go to America because America is freedom country. America has a diversity of people and cultures. It is a country that is known for having the freedom. It makes me open up my new perspectives. I want to see new perspectives that I have never seen before, including the way of life of people there, houses, buildings, and nature that are not like Thailand. I know America is a big country, with all 50 states and each state is unique and different. Many countries in the world using English for communication. There are some countries not using English as a main language. As a Thai, studying English but have less chance talking English in daily life. I would like to go to America and practice languages. Meeting new people and staying with my future host family. I will bring famous Thai food dishes, Thai culture, and Thai traditions, especially how kind of Thai people to America.
