Dear my Host Family,
Hello! I’m Kokona. Thank you for accepting me into your home. I’m so excited that I can study in your country as an exchange student. I’ve been interested in foreign cultures since I was a little because I want to experience many new things which I cannot experience in Japan.
First of all, let me introduce myself. I’m cheerful and friendly. I like to talk with people. I often communicate with my classmates at school, and share what happened on that day with my family. I want to get along with many people from different backgrounds and make friends while I’m in America. I’m also looking forward to experiencing American holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. My hobbies are cooking and exercising. I make dinner when my parents are busy. I would like to make you some Japanese food, and please teach me how to cook traditional American dishes and sweets too. I think it will be fun!
I love exercising, especially swimming and running. I often go swimming at the swimming pool with my sister in the summer. Running outside is one of the happiest times for me. I won the first place in the city track and field competition when I was in junior high school. Also, I have been taking Hawaiian hula lessons for more than ten years. I have taken lessons in Hawaii before, and danced hula with Hawaiian musicians. I had a great time that I will never forget.
Next, let me introduce my family. There are four people in my family, my father, mother, older sister, and a dog. We live in Fukuchiyama city which is located in the northern part of Kyoto. It has a big river and is surrounded by beautiful mountains. My family enjoys spending outdoors, and on weekends, we like to go for drives, shopping, and exercising. Also, we decorate our rooms and cook together on special occasions.
Lastly, I want to broaden my perspective through studying abroad. Thank you for accepting me and I cannot wait to get to know about the American culture. I would like to have a wonderful time with you, and am looking forward to meeting you!
Sincerely yours,
Kokona
