Dear future host family,

I´m Kolja, right now I´m fifteen years old but when I’m coming to the US I´ll be sixteen years old. I´m from Germany where I also live in a small town in the north of Germany with around 35000 inhabitants but right next to my town is Hamburg, a big city with almost 2 million inhabitants.

At home I like to listen to english rap and my favorite movie to watch is “all quite on the western front” because I´m very interested in history. And in my opinion the best food is cordon bleu and I like to hear English rap.

I also really like to travel so already visited countries like Sweden, Italy, Luxemburg, Spain, Denmark.

I would say I´m a little bit introverted but in the last couple of months I became way more extroverted.

I´m also more of a relaxed person. Sometimes when there are things, I have to do but don´t want to do, it can happen that I´ll lose interest. But when there is something I´m really interested in I´m also very committed to it.

My main friend group consists of around 6 with some additions sometimes and I have some friends located in other parts of Germany, with which I have active contact.

As I already said I live in a small town around 200 meters away from downtown, in a small, quiet street in a row house with garden. I live there with parents and my 19-year-old brother. My mother works for an architect and my farther as a sales representative for cooling machines. My brother also works already, as an mechatronics engineer. In our small society I don´t really have to do that much, just things like set the table or clean my room. As whole family we don´t do much because my brother is just rarely at home, but me and my parents sometimes make some small trips to other cities or sights.

My Grandparents live on a small farm far away from cities which is really relaxing when we visit them, which happens quite often.

Right now, I´m in grade 10 and my favorite subjects are history and English and used to do tutoring for kids from grade 6-8.

Also at the moment, I don´t do a sport but I really like to do sports so I´m looking for a new one because I quit soccer at the start of 2023 after 10 years of playing.

In my free time I like to meet my friends and for example go to the lake with them or we play basketball together.

I also like to build Lego and collect sets and figures.

I always wanted to make a year abroad, because I love to travel and see different countries and their cultures, and the US is a good example because of its size and very different states and cultures. I also chose the US it´s such a famous and interesting country that I never been to before.

The life in the US is also very different to my life in Germany, for example the schools, and I think the best way to experience this difference is to spend a half year at a family in the states.

I hope during the time I will be in the USA, I´m going to find some new friends, have a fun time with my new family, get to know the American lifestyle, maybe see some famous sights and overall, just have a good time.

I would be very grateful if you would be willing to host me in your family for half a year and show me your style of life, culture and language.
