LETTER FROM Lara

Lara

My name is Lara and I am a Brazilian girl. I have always lived in a small town in the countryside of São Paulo.

I have always studied in the morning, I start my day at college at 7 am, but last year I started leaving at 2 pm or 3 pm. I have no problem making new friends, I am very friendly and communicative. I have been studying at my school for 11 long years.

Since I was a child, I have practiced some sports such as tennis, swimming, long-distance cycling, jazz dance, ballet and tap. Now I am focused on tennis. I started practicing when I was 9 years old, but I stopped because the coronavirus arrived in Brazil. I am practicing again now. I started training again last year in July. My techniques are not so good now, in fact, I am focused on improving them.

I love music, I usually do my things listening to music, my favorite type of music is rock and pop, in 2023 I went to a big festival that took place in the capital São Paulo, called The Town, the city of rock, I went to see Foo Fighters sing, it was incredible! That same year Paul McCartney came to Brazil and I got to see him sing, it was a really cool experience too.

My father is a farmer, sometimes we would go see the crops he planted during the month, he mostly grows oranges, soybeans and sorghum. I like to see new places with them, we got to know some famous cities in my country. Last year, when I turned 15, I went on a trip to California and Nevada, I stayed for 15 days, 7 days in Los Angeles and another 7 in Las Vegas, it was an unforgettable experience.

I like to go out with my friends on the weekends, I have a specific group of friends, they are my long-time friends, even in the first or second grade of school. On Fridays or Sundays my family has dinner at my grandparents’ house. I usually eat rice, beans, meat, salad, and I have no problem trying new foods.

My family has always supported me in my dreams. Going on an exchange program is a dream I’ve had for a long time. I want to try it now to improve my English level, get to know other cultures, make friends, and create incredible memories. I’m already very happy to have been chosen. Thank you.
