LETTER FROM Lara

Lara

Dear future host family,

My name is Lara and I am 15 years old. I live near Hanover in a small city with my parents and my brother. My parents both work at a large automotive brand. My mum does market research and my dad plans the body construction. My brother is a bit younger than me and is 12 years old. I also have a pet. It´s a budgie and his name is Fluffy. As a family we spend some time together. On weekends we do trips like visit a theme park or just play cards. We also like to travel and see new places.

I would describe myself as a reliable and ambitious person, especially in school. Therefore I work really hard for important things like tests. I always try my best and not give up early. I´m a good listener but sometimes I also really like to talk a lot.

As well I have a few hobbies. I really like to draw especially cartoons and portraits. Furthermore since a couple of month I learn how to crochet and to sew. Another hobby is dancing. Last year I started a dancing class for beginners. It ended with a final dance and I decided to take the continuing dancing classes. As well I really like riding a horse but at the moment there is no opportunity for me to ride. Moreover I like to bake and cook. My favorite food is potatoes in all variations for example fries or smashed potatoes. My favorite holiday is Christmas because I always spend a great time with my hole family. I love watching Christmas movies and eat gingerbread and other Christmas candies. Additionally every year on Christmas we go to church. Additionally after accomplishing church school for 1,5 years I received my church confirmation last year.

I´m looking forward to experience the American way of life, the traditions, the language and of course the culture. Maybe I can also show you (as my host family) some aspects from the German culture. In the US I want to meet new people, make new friends and of course have a lovely host family. I hope to stay connected after I´m back in Germany. Beside these things I also want to improve my English. Personally I have no big preferences but I would like to stay in a family which shares some interests or hobbies with me.

I am very much looking forward to meet you!

Kind regards,

Lara
