LETTER FROM Lilia

Lilia

Hi, my name is Lilia and I’m sixteen years old girl from Finland and I have decided to have an exchange year. My sister also did it this year and she recommended it so much. I followed her experience throughout her year and it made me want to do it also even more. I live in the third largest city in Finland. My family consists of me, mom, dad and sister. We also have a dog, his name is Toby.

In my opinion I am very kind and when I meet people first I am a little bit shy but when I get to know them I ended up being social. My strenghts are that I am very positive, always open minded whatever comes in my life and I like to meet new people and get to know them. My weaknesses are that I am sometimes too kind and caring and I put other people above me. Sometimes I get too stressed over a little things. But over all I like to talk more about my strenghts than my weaknesses.

I like to do many sports. During the winter time I like to go downhill skiing with my family and it’s one of our yearly traditions to go up to Lapland during the Christmas time. Lapland is the Nothern part of Finland and mostly known for Northern Lights. There is so much snow in the winter so it’s easy to do different kind of winter sports there. During the summer, I like to play golf sometimes with my family sometimes with my friends. We also like to play basketball and volleyball on my free time. With my family we love to travel to several different countries and I have seen very much for my age and that’s why i am so open for new things and cultures.

The reason why I wanted to be an exchange student is that both of my parents and sister were exchange students when they were at my age. And also I want to learn more English and more about American culture. I think I will become more independent during and after my year abroad. Meeting new people is one of the things that I can’t wait.

Hope to see and hear about you soon!
