Dear Future Host Family,
At first, I wanted to thank you for thinking about having me as your host child and wanting me to be a part of your family for 5 months. I can’t wait to see you soon, but until then, I’d like to tell you something about myself and my life. My name is Lisa, and I am from Germany. I am 15 years old now, but I’ll turn 16 while I’m with you. I am currently going to the 10th grade, but I will be in the 11th grade when I am with you. To tell you something about my personality, I would say I am a very open-minded person who loves animals and sports. I love making new friends and connecting with new people. I can get very emotional about everything; I think that’s because I am a very people-oriented person. But I think with your support, I will feel at home shortly after arriving, as I am very adaptable. One of the things I love most in my life is my family. My parents are divorced, so there is my mom, my dad, the boyfriend of my mom, the girlfriend of my dad, my grandparents, and my grandma. I live with both of my parents, so I spend 2 weeks at my mom’s and then I switch and spend 2 weeks at my dad’s. I also absolutely love my dog Ramses. He is 6 years old but will turn 7 in March. Let me first tell you something about my dog, as he is my favorite animal in the whole world. Ramses is a large Münsterländer, which is a breed of hunting dog, but we do not go hunting with him. He has always been there for me as long as I can remember, and I love him so much. I like to cuddle him a lot, and I also love to play with him in our yard. My mom is a very kind and loving person, and I love spending time with her. I can talk with her about everything, and we have a very close bond. She tries to help me in every situation and is always worried about me. We often play board games together, but my favorite game to play with her is Cluedo. I don’t know if you know that one. My dad is the best father I can think of. We also share a very close bond, and he never fails to make me laugh. I also love spending time with him. We often watch movies together, and he is always supporting me in anything. We also love to bake new cakes and try new recipes together. Together, they taught me kindness, the importance of family, and empathy. When I am not with my family or my dog, I love riding horses. I have been riding since I was 6 years old, but right now, I’ve paused because there is no horse I can ride. That makes me a little sad, and I hope that soon I will start riding again. It is just the best sport I can think of, and it makes me really happy to work with animals. I also love to do classical dance, like disco fox, tango, and stuff like that. It makes me really happy to learn new dances. In the past, I also did cheerleading, and one of my goals is to do this again in America. I also love spending time watching ice hockey. It is one of my favorite things to do, and this brought me closer to my mom’s boyfriend, Mirco, as we watch this together. I love how fast this sport is and the teamwork that is needed. If you are interested, I would be more than happy to tell you more about that later. 🙂 Another fact about me is that I absolutely love trying new things, whether it is a new hobby, learning about other cultures, or figuring something new out about a person. I am always up for a challenge, and I love adrenaline. I am really looking forward to learning more about your culture, traditions, language, and your way of living. I would also love to tell you anything you are curious about my life, country, and traditions later if you are interested. I am so excited to see you soon! Love, |
