Dear future host family, thank you so much for taking the time to read this! In this letter I’m going to share a bit about myself, my family, and what I hope to gain from this opportunity.
My name is Lua Marina and I have a close family. My parents are divorced, but we all get along really well. I have one sister that’s three years younger than me, she’s always been my favorite person in the world, I love her a lot. We also have two cats Loki and Manta. I appreciate every member of my family: I love my mom’s kindness, she always takes time to cook my favorite meals, and sometimes she even teaches me how to make them myself. It’s a nice way to bond with her. My dad is outgoing and always ready for an adventure. We’ve always tried new activities and foods together. As for my sister, she can sometimes show that she’s becoming a teen by locking herself in her room, but despite that I love her kindness and love for all living beings.
As for my personality, I’d describe myself as open-minded, kind, and curious. I’m always learning about new things, and also diving deeper about the things they teach us in school. Because of that, one of my strengths is my love of learning, I’m constantly trying to expand my knowledge. On the other hand, I can be a bit of a perfectionist, which sometimes makes me overly critical of my own work. I’m trying to accept that mistakes are part of the learning process.
In my free time, I love drawing and reading. I’ve always been into drawing since I was a little kid, I have like fifteen sketchbooks laying around. Lately, I’ve also gotten into Jugger, a sport that combines football and fencing. It’s not very well known, but there are teams in several states. It’s physically challenging, but also a lot of fun. Christmas is my favorite holiday because of all the traditions, like decorating the tree and cooking together as a family. Regarding my diet, I follow a vegetarian diet (I eat neither meat nor fish), however, I understand that this experience is based on cultural exchange and on being a flexible and adaptable person.
Through this experience, I really hope to improve my English and understand more the culture. I want to feel more confident in my communication.
