Dear Host Family,
Hello, my name is Mahiro, and I’m 16 years old. There are five members in my family: my father, mother, older brother, older sister, and me. My older brother lives on his own, so we don’t live together anymore. We’re a close-knit family, and I really enjoy spending time with them.
On weekends, my family and I often go out to different places, like parks, museums, or nearby cities. I started cycling about a year ago, and it has become one of my favorite activities. Recently, I went cycling around Lake Biwa, which is the largest lake in Japan. The route around the lake was challenging, but it was a great experience. I like being active and trying new things. I’m also very curious about the world and enjoy learning about different cultures and people.
I’m not afraid to try new things, but I do get scared of injections. It was tough because I had to get a lot of vaccines for studying abroad, but I’m excited about the adventure ahead!
I love skiing and go skiing with my family every winter. It’s a family tradition and always one of the highlights of the year. I was also in the tennis club in middle school and would love to try new sports while I’m abroad, like basketball or volleyball.
I like almost all kinds of food, but my absolute favorite is mochi. In Japan, we eat mochi during the New Year, and my grandmother makes it for me every year. It’s always something I look forward to and a special memory for me.
My high school is in a neighboring town, and I commute for an hour every morning. It’s a bit tiring, but I enjoy it because I get to see different parts of the town along the way. There are a few international students in my class, and they teach me about life in their countries, which is really interesting. I’ve learned so much from them, and I’m looking forward to learning even more during my study abroad. I enjoy subjects like biology or history, so I am eager to learn about American history. I study for about 2 hours every day, and even more before the tests.
When I study abroad, I want to join a club and enjoy sports with my friends. I also hope to try new foods and learn about local traditions. I’m really excited about meeting new people and experiencing life in a different country.
Thank you so much for accepting me. I am sure that we will have a good relationship.
