My name is María and I live with my parents and my siblings, Blanca, who is twenty years old and is studying Biotechnology at the University, and Nacho, who is seventeen and is in his last year of High School. We like to spend time together, especially visiting new cities and its monuments, museums and other interesting places. During the summer we usually go to Murcia which is in the Mediterranean sea. Sometimes my parents rent a boat and we spend the day sailing, it is one of our favorite activities.
The town where I live is a small residential city where most of the people (including myself) live in small buildings of flats with a common garden and a swimming pool.
My High school is really close to my house so I am able to get there walking. It is a new school built just a few years ago which organizes many cultural and sports activities. Every year a skiing week is organized, as well as different exchange programmes. I consider myself very lucky because I have had the opportunity to travel abroad and live with host families in France and Germany. Moreover, for the last three years, I have been going to summer camps in England and Ireland where I stayed with a host family while attending some English lessons.
Two times per week I have volleyball practice and on Saturdays I usually play a game against different teams from Madrid. In my free time I like to read and watch some tv shows and movies. During the weekends I hang out with my friends and we often go to a leisure centre in my town where we walk, have dinner or eat a snack. We sometimes go to the cinema, bowling or ice skating.
I am sure this experience will make me get more independent and it will help me improve my english skills. I am quite interested in the American way of life too, since my sister, who also stayed in the US for one year, has told me how amazing it is. I believe the programme will offer me the chance of not only getting to know other cultures and traditions but teaching my own.
I want to thank you for inviting me to your home and let me be part of your family.
