Dear Host Family,
First of all, I’ve to say that I’m really excited about this new experience, I feel like it’s going to be amazing!
My name is Maria Luisa, I’m 16 years old and I live in a small town in São Paulo State, with my parents, Andreia and Renato. My mom is 50 years old and she is a math and science teacher in elementary and public high school in Brazil. My father is 59 years old and he is an agronomist. He works with sugar cane and soybeans. I’ve two older brothers, but they don’t live with us anymore. Augusto, my oldest brother, is 30 years old. He lived in England to study English after his graduation, when he was 22 years old. Nowadays, he lives in São Paulo, Brazil, with his wife, Karina. He works in a law office. Arthur, my middle brother, is 21 years old. In 2022, he went to Canada to study business. Nowadays, he lives in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil and he’s studying to go to college in Brazil. I love them although they are boys and older and I never had the opportunity to share a daily routine with brother or sister near my age.
I study in the neighboring city, because the school there is better and the city is bigger. I wake up every day at 5:30 am to catch the bus and go to school. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I stay at school all day, until 5 pm. On Mondays, at 7 pm I go to English class, on Tuesdays after school, I play tennis and do my homework and on Thursdays after school, I go to English class and later I study.
I love playing tennis and volleyball, swimming, going to the gym, listening to music and hanging out with my friends. On weekends, I usually go to the neighboring city too, to hang out with my friends or they come to my town. We usually go to the eat something nearby or to the mall or we just meet at each other’s house to talk, watch movies, play and sleepover.
My Family and I love traveling, we’ve already visited Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, Canada, USA (Florida) and some other wonderful places in Brazil. There’s nothing that makes me happier than traveling. On our summer vacation, we usually go to the beach. I love going there because we’ve been going since I was a little kid.
I’m Catholic and baptized, but I don’t go to church often.
I love animals, like dogs, cats, horses… I’ve two dogs, Maya and Bobby, and they’re very friendly and lovely.
On a daily basis, I usually eat rice, beans, salad and some meat, and on weekends I usually eat other kinds of food, such as Japanese food, pizza, pasta and sandwiches.
I want to do an exchange program not only to improve my English, but also to know a new culture, make friends and learn about the American costumes. I think it’ll be an amazing time together.
I’d like to finish this letter thanking you for choosing me and hosting me in your house!
With love,
Maria Luisa
