LETTER FROM Mercuzio

Mercuzio

Hi new host family,

How are you? I hope you’re doing well. Now I’d like to tell you a bit about myself and my family. I live in Milan, one of the most important cities in Italy. I live with my parents and my younger brother. I usually spend time with them, while in the afternoons I’m often with my friends or busy studying. I’m very open with my family, and I feel comfortable talking to them about anything.

I’m a friendly and curious person, even if I can be a little shy at first. It takes me a bit to open up, but once I feel comfortable, I become more expressive. I love discovering new things and, even though I sometimes doubt myself, I’m always ready to try new experiences and step out of my comfort zone.

One of my biggest passions is basketball. I started playing when I was six years old, and I’ve loved it ever since. This is actually the first year I’m not part of a team, but I still enjoy playing at the playground with friends. I’m also a big NBA fan, sometimes I even wake up in the middle of the night to watch a game, because of the time zone. Another passion of mine is music. I’ve recently started playing the piano again as a self-taught musician, even though I took lessons for about five years when I was younger. I enjoy learning how to play the songs I listen to.

Speaking of music, I mostly listen to Italian trap and rap, which is very popular among people my age. However, when I was a child, my dad used to play a lot of classic music at home, like Michael Jackson and The Alan Parsons Project, so I grew up listening to those too, and I still appreciate that style.

I’m not a guy who is really into the tv shows or franchise but in particular I’m very interested in Star Wars saga. I’ve watched all the movies and many of the series, and I love the depth of the story and the characters. It’s something I often talk about with my friends and think about in my free time.

From this experience, I hope to grow more independent and understand what it’s like to live in a new environment. I’m really curious to learn about different habits, cultures, and everyday life in another country.
