Dear Host Family

I would like to thank you very much in advance for letting me, Michaela, stay with you for 10 month. It would mean a lot to me and I know it will be a great responsibility and challenge for you as a family.

I am 15 years old and I live in a beautiful, old town in middle Franconia. It is located in the south of Germany. I am currently attending secondary school in a neighboring town. I play theater with fun and passion. I played at my school for a year and now in a club. I also find the area of film and series interesting and great, especially how it is structured. My second passion is photography. I like to photograph nature, our animals especially our cats.

I really enjoy drawing, painting and crafting. I also like to dance in the great outdoors and try out different variations with music. I will also be taking a dance class this school year. I´m excited to see what new things there are to discover.

My family is rather small and consists of my parents and me. That´s why I like to go to my grandparents and cousins in the Erzgebirge. It´s very beautiful there. My mom grew up there too. Her name is Annett and she 49 years old. She has her own shop. My dad Reiner is a farmer and he also works in a winery.

I like to do things with my parents, we like to go to the swimming pool, go to the cinema, go to exhibitions and have a nice dinner meal. We live on a beautiful farm with a large garden and some pets such as ducks and geese.

I am naturally very curious, close to nature, helpful, polite and open to new things. I am creative and inventive and I like to try something new. Sometimes I take on too much and lose track of things. At times I give up too quickly and then try to find another solution to reach this goal more quickly. I still need to work on my sense of time.

The reason why I decided to spend a year abroad in the USA is that I like traveling and would like to experience the USA while living there. I would like to discover new things, get to know foreign cultures and improve my language. I´m excited to see how you live and I am grateful that you are willing to open your home to me. I’m looking forward to hear from you.
