LETTER FROM Nina

Nina

Dear host family.

My name is Nina, I’m 15 years old and I live in Slovakia.

I live with my mom and my grandparents in a small town. My parents are divorced. My family consists of my mother and father, my older brother and my grandparents. I have two dogs Neli and Cameron. Neli is a mixed yorkshire and Cameron is a cuban dog.

I love spending time with my family. Recently we have been to New York. I loved it there, everything was so big and the views from the skyscrapers were so beautiful. My dad often takes me to Croatia during summer holidays. We have been there so many times, it’s practically become our home now.

I love travelling and discovering new things. I also like playing volleyball and one of my hobbies which I really love is dance. I do hiphop and I also used to do contemporary dance when I was younger. I play volleyball at my school, sometimes we have competitions. In my free time, I like getting coffee or tea with my friends. I also like cooking and my favorite food is chicken pasta. I love Christmas and my family’s traditions during Christmas Day.

We have a big dinner with three types of soups and fish as the main dish. Then we open presents. We celebrate Christmas on the 24th of December and on the 25th I go to my dad’s where we also have a big dinner and I open presents there as well.

My personality is that I’m energetic – that’s why I like sports. I’d also say I’m pretty funny and open-minded. I’m a very loving person and I try to express my love to everyone I appreciate in my life. I always try to make people comfortable with me. I enjoy helping people – it doesn’t matter if mentally or physically.

The reason I want to study in the USA is because I hope to gain independence and new experiences from this program. I want to experience doing new things such as a different school and extracurricular activities.

Thank you!
