LETTER FROM Nina

Nina

Dear host family,

I’m really excited to write this letter! I’ve been looking forward to living in the U.S. for a very long time and now my dreams are coming true.

I’m Nina and right now I’m 15 years old. I live with my sister and my parents in a small village near Nuremberg. I love spending time with them, we do a lot of things together like playing board games, going on walks, cooking, or traveling. I really like traveling because I love exploring new countries, finding out about their culture and language. In winter I love to go skiing in the Alps and in summer I love to go to the beach.

In my free time I like to meet my friends and go shopping, go to the movies or cook with them. I play tennis with a friend at least once a week. I like dancing, singing and watching movies or TV-shows with my sister a lot, too. She’s 17 and we get along very well. At school I also sing in the school choir. I’m open-minded, friendly, and always willing to help.

I am really involved at school. I am a dispute mediator, which means that I help other students solve their conflicts, I also work with other students on various projects. For example, we organize, charity runs, balls or discos for younger students. I’m also in process of training to become a school paramedic. I’m interested in natural science, and I’m really excited about doing this training. I already did a one-week internship at a pediatrician’s office. It was a great experience and I’m thinking about studying medicine after school.

I am currently in 10th grade and my favorite subjects in school are Biology, Math, and English. I’m looking forward to going to an American high school because of cooler subjects, after school clubs and the famous high school spirit. I’m looking forward to learning a lot about the American culture and living abroad. My family and I spent our last two vacations in the U.S., and I really loved it there and I would like to explore and see more of the U.S. I think I will become more independent and the 10 months in the U.S. are going to be an experience of a lifetime!

Thank you so much for giving me the chance to live and study abroad! I’m so excited to meet you!

Best regards

Nina
