Dear future family,
I’m Paula and I’m almost 15 years old and I’m looking forward to meeting you. With this letter I’ll explain to you how I’m and what I like to do.
I live in a medium size big city where I go to school, go out with my friends and spend time with my family. At home we are my mother, she’s 49 years old, she works in a large company as a sales manager. My father, he’s 49 years old too and works in a distributor company as a purchasing director. My sister Blanca, she’s 12 years old, she studies in the same school as me. I have a very good relationship with all of them, especially with my sister. We are a very close family, and we love spending time together. I don’t have any pets, but I would love to have a dog. I have a lot of contact with my grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins. At Christmas, among other holidays, we all come together as a family and spend all day long.
At school I have a group of friends who have been together for 3 years and we love doing activities together and having a great time. I have been in this school all my life. It is not very big; classes go up to 16 years old. In Spain, I am in 3rd year of ESO, which is like 9th grade in USA. My favorites subjects are math or sports. When I finish high school, I want to go to college so that, in the future, I can work in a company and start a family.
One of my favorite hobbies is playing sports. I have been skiing since I was 3 years old because my family loves mountains. When I was 6 years old, they signed me up for a ski club and since then, I have made friends that have accompanied me throughout these years. In summer all the families go hiking or other activities, and we have a lot of fun. I also play paddle tennis, a sport that I have been practicing for 2 years and through which I have also made many friends. Throughout my life I have practiced other sports such as soccer or dancing, but I do not practice them as often anymore.
I have had to ask friends and family about my personality to tell me how they see me. Many have used the word “smiling” because, above all, I try to put on a smile. They also say that I am sociable because I try to integrate and adapt to all kinds of situations. Another adjective would be “persevering” because I remain consistent, determined and focused: I am not usually indecisive.
I am very excited to have this experience for many reasons. I would love to learn about your culture and customs, just as you can learn about mine. I am very excited also to be able to live somewhere in the United States. I am also looking forward to being able to go to High School, to make new American friends and for them to show me what my life would be like in another country.
I hope to meet you soon and to live unforgettable moments by your side.
Best regards from the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.
