Dear host family,

My name is Rika and first off, I want to express my gratitude to be welcomed into your family and that you help me live this unique experience. In this letter, I want to introduce myself.

I have a loving family that includes my parents, Nina and Martin, my 2 years older sister Gesa, and my beloved pets – a cat and a recently passed dog named Chubby. My mother is a teacher and my father is a head physician.

As a person, I am very open-minded and love spending time with my family. Together we love to watch reports about animals, nature, foreign cultures, and history, play games and watch movies. We also travel a lot, among other things we have been to Florida 4 times and discovered diving as a new family hobby. When I‘m not with my family I often spend time with my friends. We then always go to the city and spend time talking and laughing. Family and Friends are really important to me! When I’m alone I spend most of my time writing and reading or doing sport. I’m a very athletic person and love to spend my time at the gym. At home, I cook, bake or tidy up my room.

Now I want to tell you why I want to spend a year with you in America. I have always been fascinated with culture and longed to live in the United States since I can remember. My love for American football has only intensified my desire to learn more about this great nation and its people. My father spend, when he was younger, a short time in the US and always told me how beautiful and amazing his experience was. I want that too. I want to improve myself and to learn new things. In the US I want to pursue my dreams and experience the unique culture.
