EXCITED TO MEET YOU, HERE’S MY LETTER FOR YOU!

Dear Host Family,

My name is Sara and I am 16 years old. I live in a small village in northern Italy. I have a very big family and I love them! Let me introduce them.

My father is 52 years old and he is a businessman. I live only with my father because my siblings live alone, in another house. My siblings’ names are Laura and Matteo: they are 26 and 24 years old. My sister is a secretary and my brother is a truck driver. I love my siblings because they always make me laugh and they are always there for me, even if they are much older than me. My mother is 51 years old and she is also a secretary. I don’t live with my mom anymore because my parents are divorced, but I still visit her frequently.

With my family I do many different activities that I love, such as skiing, hiking, going on vacation together, going to different cities or watching movies.

My family also includes my grandparents, my uncles and all my cousins: it is very large and we often meet at family dinners or lunches, where I spend some wonderful moments with them!

My family is very big not only for people, but also for my pets! I have five pets. At my father’s house we have two dogs, their names are Tokyo and Ally and they are 4 and 13 years old; and also a turtle: her name is Lulù and she is 15 years old. At my mother’s house I have two cats: Baloo, he is 6 years old and a cat that we adopted very recently, his name is Minu and he is only 4 months old. I love my animals: I like to pet them, take them for a walk and play with them!

But now let me talk about myself. I am a sunny girl, who likes to laugh and likes to make people laugh, but I am also sensitive. I love being around people and I get along with everyone. At first, when you know me I’m shy, but then I become immediately extroverted.

I play sports and I have many hobbies! I go to the gym and do weightlifting three times a week, usually with my sister Laura. I really like this sport because it makes me feel energetic and it lets me vent. In winter I love skiing with my friends or with my family. A couple of years ago I practiced downhill skiing at a competitive level and also did many races. With my friends I frequently play volleyball and ping-pong.

My favorite hobbies are listening to music and watching movies or TV series. My favorite music genres are Italian trap and Italian pop, but I don’t have a favorite movie genre because I like to try new ones.

From my experience abroad, I hope to grow as a person, becoming more independent and being able to solve my problems on my own. I am looking forward to arriving at my future host family, to get to know their cultures and introduce them to mine as well. Of course, my main goal is to improve my English, but I would like to build strong relationships and friendships with my host family and my classmates. I think this experience will help me a lot to develop an open mind to new cultures and people, which will be fundamental for my whole life.

I am very happy to have the opportunity to live in another country other than mine, I am ready to adapt to any culture and place. I can’t wait to test myself, to grow and learn new things!
