Dear Host Family,
My name is Selma and in this letter I will tell you a little bit about myself, so you can get to know me better. I’m currently 15 years old but I will turn 16 next summer. I live in a small town in Germany. I’d like to tell you a little bit about myself and my life here and what I’m looking forward to while being in America.
In my free time, I enjoy some activities. I really like to go to the gym with my friends. Besides sports, I also like spending time with my friends, whether it’s going to the cinema, having fun outdoors or just chatting. I am also interested in reading, cooking, especially baking and trying new things. I try to make time for these activities whenever I can. I have a close relationship with my family. I live with my parents and my little brother. Sadly my parents are divorced. We enjoy doing things together, like going on trips or doing fun activities together. I have a really big family with a lot of cousins. I also spend a lot of time with my friends, and we support each other in everything we do. As well I recently started working at a part-time job where I play with little children at my local sports club.
I would describe myself as a really outgoing, communicative, self-confident and as a good listener. My friends would describe me as humorous as well, they always tell me that they always have something to laugh about when they are with me. I would say that one of my weaknesses is that I am quite sensitive and it could be that I take criticism sometimes too personal. At school, my days are usually filled with learning. After school, I often have homework to do after finishing my homework I usually like to go to the gym or meet up with my friends, but I try to keep a good balance between school and my free time. I also help out at home with different tasks, like cleaning, helping to prepare meals and doing the laundry.
One of my favourite foods is Turkish food, pasta and Asian Food. I would say that I am pretty open to wide variety of foods. I really enjoy the summer vacation because it’s warm and beautiful outside and I mostly spend my time being out with my friends or going on summer vacation with my family or friends. My favourite tradition with my family is spending the weekends together and doing activities like card games, watching movies or bake/cook together. In the future, I’m still figuring out what I want to do, but I’m interested in biology and medicine (e.g. dental hygiene). I believe that being an exchange student in the U.S.A will help me grow, learn new things like culture wise and improve my English.
I’m excited to live with an American family and experience the life in the U.S.A I can’t wait to meet you and share this experience together!
