LETTER FROM Seungui

Seungui

Dear Host Family,

Hello, my name is Seungui. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I’m 14 years old and 8th grade here in Korea. I live with my family here, and I have no siblings. However, I am an active and bright person who likes to do all kinds of different activities. I like to do outdoor activities like playing sports, traveling and camping. The sports I like playing are basketball, soccer, and a little bit of golf. I also like indoor activities such as watching movies, spending time with my family and friends, and playing instruments. I like all kinds of genres of movies and I can play violin and guitar. I am now a violinist at my school orchestra. My hobbies are drawing, listening to music and watching all kinds of movies. I especially like watching movies, so I often go out and watch a movie by myself or with a friend.

My strong point is that I can adapt and understand fast. On the other hand, my weak point is that I get impatient sometimes. I often get impatient when there’s a lot of work and chores and things to do and I can’t get my pace. So, I get confused and I make mistakes or leave out some important things. Therefore, to redeem my weak points. I am trying my best not to lose my pace, and I am also making a planner to schedule so that I don’t forget things and miss out on stuff.

The reason I applied to the U.S. State Department Exchange Student is because I want to improve my English skills. I also would like to experience new things, and I would like to learn about US America’s culture and their education. I like to do a lot of activities and try out new things and I thought this would be a good opportunity. Through this program I would like to improve my independence and live without my parents help. Also, I would learn how to reduce time and control my time. I have no difficulty in communicating and I started to use English when I was 5 years old.

Our school is a private dormitory school. I am now sharing a room with 2 other good friends. I can’t see my parents very often so I sometimes get lonely but I got my friends to help me through. At our school I learned how to coexist with others, learn to share and learned to live as an independent person. Because our school is a Christian school, we get to pray to God every Thursday and Sunday at the chapel. Before I didn’t know God very well, so in school I am now learning and knowing Him. At school I am a class vice chairman helping our class students. Also I am a part of the student council literature department. Through my current school I met good friends and good teachers and grew to be a global leader.

I live in Korea with my family and I don’t have any siblings. So, I live with my Mom, Dad, and my dog Roi. My dog Roi is a silver toy poodle, he is very small and cute. My family is a very positive family and they are always there to help me. I am so grateful that they trust me and love me no matter what I do. I also got to know this program through them and I’m so thankful. My parents always let me try and experience new things and that is why I got to be a challenging person.

I am very thrilled to meet a new host that will help me and care for me. I may be a little bit shy, but once I get comfortable, I would be the brightest person you have ever seen. I would like to try out a lot of things with my host family and learn their culture and their routine of life. I would also like to go to school and learn about American education and their history. I am very thrilled about learning new things, seeing, eating and hearing new things. I hope I have a good experience and a good time. I wish to make a good relationship and come back and have a good thought about this program and all the memories I made. I would also like to introduce our Korean culture and cook them Korean foods. I am also very excited about their holidays and the way they celebrate. I heard about parties and celebrations they have and I am really thrilled to try out all of those. There are many holidays that aren’t here in Korea and are there in America and I would like to experience all of those holidays myself. I’m really curious about Thanksgiving, Easter egg hunt, Christmas and Halloween. Moreover, I would like to travel around the states and see nature and the amazing traveling spots.

I thank you guys once again for reading my long letter. I wish I could be part of your family! Thanks again and have a good day!

Sincerely,

Seungui
