LETTER FROM Stella

Stella

Dear future host family,

I can finally write this letter. I’m very excited, my heart is pounding like crazy and I can’t stop smiling with this letter I will be able to reach such kind people, who consider taking me into their family, for what I’m incredibly grateful for.

My name is Stella and I live in a city in the south of Germany. Due to long school days I don’t have much time after school, but I try to make the best out of it. But it’s okay since I’m with my friends. They are very important to me and I couldn’t imagine my life without them. I’m a little bit afraid since I will be away for one year but at the same time I’m very exited. I really like reading.

Books give me some sort of comfort and let me forget reality and my problems. It’s like entering a whole new world. I often completely forget time while I’m reading. Another thing I do a lot is studying. Exams are hard and you have to study a lot, so I try to do it as much as I can. My grades are important for me, because I want to have a good and fun job in the future and good grades will allow me to have many options and to try many different things. My favorite subjects right now are English, biology and history.

In school, I have many small breaks where I spend time with my friends. We walk around the campus and talk about our day and what happened. In my long break though, I go to the library and do homework or study, that way I will have more time after school. My friends often come with me and read a book or study with me. I tend to get distracted by them and we end up talking for the rest of the break or we start playing games. We have a lot of fun with each other but sometimes it gets very serious because the exam is after the break so we study for it during the break.

I’m glad that we are allowed to listen to music while studying. Can concentrate a bit better with music. I generally love music and I can’t imagine a life without it. Music puts me in a happy mood and brings me much joy. I associate some songs with certain memories and listening to those songs is like experiencing everything over again. I like listening to all kinds of genres, they all have a different feeling’. I also really like baking. Sometimes my best friend and I bake some cookies or muffins together. It’s so much fun to decorate them, but eating them is probably the best part.

My favourite things to bake are cookies and small cakes. Cleaning afterwards is not as much fun though, but my sister and I always try to keep everything clean, because my mother works a lot. My family only consists of my mother, my older sister, me and our dog As I said, my mother works a lot, so my sister and I try to help her as much as possible by doing household chores like cleaning the kitchen or vacuuming. We try to spend a lot of time together and sometimes make small rips, but I enjoy it the most when we all just spend time together at home. I like watching movies together. I watched a lot of movies when I was younger and always saw how much fun life in

America was and how the high schools were so much fun. I decided I want to experience that too and because I always had a lot of fun learning English, I was even more excited. As I grew older, I informed myself about the schools in America and if it was possible to go there. Since I discovered that I can do an exchange year 3 years ago, it’s been my dream. It doesn’t feel real thinking about it.

I’m not only excited to go to school, but also to find new friends and learn more for my life and of course to improve my English. I’m so thankful that you consider welcoming me into your family and help me realize my dream. I hope we can have a great time together and make good memories.

Best regards,

Stella
