Hi, my name is Tobias.
I live with my parents and three sisters- two younger and one older than me. We also have two indoor cats. As a family, we love to travel and spend time together, usually doing sports like rock climbing, surfing, skiing, or cycling. I’d say we’re a pretty active and closely bonded family.
I consider myself an ambitious and self-driven person. I enjoy challenges and extreme activities, and I always try to push myself beyond my limits. If there’s one thing I truly dislike, it’s boredom and the idea of living a monotonous, uneventful life. That’s one of the main reasons I decided to apply for this exchange program, not only to explore new cultures and meet new people, but also to challenge myself with an experience I’ll remember for the rest of my life.
As I mentioned, sports and extreme activities are a big part of my life, and that’s largely thanks to my parents, who always encouraged and supported me. One of my favorite sports is alpine skiing, my parents first put me on skis when I was just three years old, and I’ve loved it ever since. I’m also passionate about motorsport, and my dad and I often race go-karts together. Most of my free time after school is spent at the gym, since I’m committed to living a healthy lifestyle and staying in shape. I hope I’ll be able to participate in as many sports and other free time activities as possible, one of those being American football or baseball, and since I’ve played those sports in the past, I believe I could easily find my way back to them. Like many other people, I also enjoy traveling and discovering new cultures, especially through food. I’m particularly fond of Asian and Italian cuisine.
There are many reasons why I want to spend a year abroad, one of them being the diversity of optional subjects I could study, especially then subjects focused on business and economics, since I would like to pursue those academical fields in the future. Also, the idea of leaving everything and everyone I know for a whole year is both scary and incredibly exciting, it feels like a real adventure. I want to experience just how different life can be across the ocean, and I hope to meet as many new people as possible. I’m eager to learn all I can about American culture and daily life, and I also look forward to sharing my own European background with others.
I hope this exchange will bring me new friends, unforgettable memories, and experiences that will shape me for years to come.
